2009 Featured Marques

Three distinguished British manufacturers are featured in 2009: Matchless, Norton and AJS. All three started in the early 1900s. Matchless bought AJS, Norton and other makes to form Associated Motor Cycles (AMC) in the 1930s. AMC went out of business in 1966, when Norton-Villiers picked up the pieces. Norton sold thousands of the popular Commando motorcycles in the U.S. from 1968 until they went out of business in the 1970s.
